Introduction

Hello! My name is Kendall Dunham, and welcome to my blog. A few things about me: I grew up in Northern Virginia and I am computer science major at Johns Hopkins University.

Purpose

The purpose of this blog is to document my experience taking Improvisation Techniques for Communication. I want to remember the lessons I learned and also keep track of how my mindset shifted and changed throughout the semester. The name for my blog is Kendall's Declassified Improv Survival Guide. It was inspired by the 2000s Nickelodeon sitcom Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. The premise was a Ned giving new tips each episode about how to survive middle school along with his friends, and I felt it was a very fitting name for a blog documenting new things I learn.

My Why

I have two reasons for taking this improv class. The first reason is that a friend recommended I take it because I am a very expressive and talkative person, so they thought I'd really enjoy it. And when I heard we had an improv class, I believed the same. The second reason was that MC was the professor, and in the same semester, I took a course on improv, which I was also enrolled in. That course, and specifically the way MC teaches, forces people to come out of their shells and actively learn, which was something that impacted how much content I learned in the leadership course and how much I actually used it in my daily life. So through these two things, I knew the class would not only be fun but would have a true impact on my daily life and future. Continue to my blogs below to take the journey with me!
